Design and quality to stay on course

A sailor who regularly participates in transatlantic regattas with 6.5 meter sailboats contacted us to design and manufacture a linear drive unit to work with the tiller of his boat.

The RA44 MAP is the answer to this request, an actuator innovative for its high-quality features in contrast with its simple design. Developed for tiller drive steering systems for boats, this linear actuator provides power, fast acceleration times, and quiet operation.

The result is precise and safe maintenance of the course, regardless of the speed of the ship or of maritime conditions.

GREATER EFFICIENCY FOR PROPULSION SYSTEMS

A manufacturer of propulsion systems for luxury yachts asked for the design and manufacture of a sturdy linear actuator with position control providing high speed in a very short stroke.

The RA47X, which is extremely efficient due to a very high speed achieved within a very short stroke, was the response to such a challenge. Through a system of digital position control that uses a Hall sensor, the actuator is connected to the motor control system, which detects its position at all times.

IMPROVING RECREATIONAL VESSELS

Navigation improves remarkably for most motorboats when flaps are installed. Flaps are electric actuators designed for all kinds of boats, and they are especially recommended at low cruising speeds or below glide speeds.

Flap efficiency depends on the surface of the actuators, the deflection angle, and the navigation speed. When the button is pressed for operation, water pushes the surface of the flap upwards, raising the stern and lowering the bow.

A nautical accessories export company inquired about a flap model for a specific customer order. The engineering team designed a short series of custom-made, wider RA45 actuators, to achieve lower hydrodynamic resistance.

After carrying out all the relevant tests to verify its proper functioning, the result was the conception and manufacture of a series of actuators that help stabilize the boats and that were installed on 8-meter pleasure craft.
